I am finally getting caught up on my personal/blogger life to where I can now talk about all this awesome stuff. Before I dive in to this and future posts, I wanted to upload and share some of the pics of our stuff when it arrived!
Talk about excited to see that truck pull up now. My whole family was around waiting to help dive into the boxes of Panasonic equipment! These are just SOME of the pics. Will write more detailed posts in the coming days!! :)

When I found out I was chosen as an LiHD family, I was so happy. Well, happy is such an understatement of how I felt. You see, while most people are extremely giddy to get this awesome equipment, I was more thrilled to be aligned with a company I truly loved. A brand that we have used in our own family for years. A brand that is reliable, budget friendly, and respectable. Maybe it's because I'm a problogger that I see it differently but I'm proud to have the LiHD family title.
The anticipation sets in seconds you receive the notification that you are a family. It's all you can think about. How family movie night will be even cooler with a jinormous 54" HDTV & movie theater sound, how I'll be able to capture those football games and toddler moments with the video camera, how I'll be able to take clear, beautiful photos with the GH1, and how I can easily carry my toughbook thanks to the handy dandy handle.
Then the arrival date is soon. You're cleaning the house, making sure you have a place to hold that fine TV and buying a new camera bag to hold those sophisticated electronics. And then it's here. The day you've been waiting for, for what feels like forever, and it's finally here.
to be continued...............

Photography is a passion of mine and lately, I’m craving it more and more. While I’m not a huge fan of overly processed photos, at least not on every single photo, I do like to pick some favorites and play with them in Adobe Photoshop. I thought it would be fun to share with you, some of the places I get my actions from. It’s very easy to get caught up in actions because they can totally change the look of your photo, most times for the best but in my opinion, the shot you take straight out of the camera, is the one that really counts. That shows what kind of photographer you are. Anyone can use actions but it’s skill and sometimes sheer luck to get a great photo.
I included all sorts of actions, text actions, and tutorials. Have fun with it!
COFFEESHOP
My new favorite place is CoffeeShop. Tons of great actions for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. She even has things for Lightroom. It’s a place you’ll spend hours at so prepare yourself with coffee and snacks, get a babysitter, and enjoy! Also, these are all free and she works on donations. I recommend a donation no matter how small (or big) because these folks put a lot of time into creating these so that you don’t have to.
PIONEER WOMAN
You had to know these would be included. Her and I have a lot in common with the whole cowboy life so naturally her actions are a good fit for many of my photos. She has also updated her current actions and is working on set number three!
PANOSFX
Great free and paid actions. The free ones require registration but are totally worth it!

I thought I would recreate the tutorial using Adobe Photoshop instead of Gimp since this is what I have but you could easily do this in the GIMP.
I’ve always enjoyed seeing photos that are black and white with one particular object in color and I’ve always wanted to know how to accomplish this…now I do.
Here’s a simple tutorial color highlighting a flower.
1) Open your photo up in photoshop. Create a new layer; click on ‘Layer’, new, then ok.

2)Now click on your fill bucket choosing the black color. Make sure you are working on your new layer and not the image itself. See the right side in the picture below. Fill your layer with the black color.

3) Now under your layers tab, click on color towards the bottom like you see below.

This is what it should look like when you click on color. It should create a black and white look. If it doesn’t, congratulations, you’ve already messed up;)

4) Staying on the same layer, choose your eraser. Choose your brush size. I click on the [ & ] to adjust the size. Now erase the subject that you want to be in color like you see below. Flatten and viola!

Here are the before and after shots of my flower.

And if you really want a good laugh, check this video out. When I became of of Walmart's Eleven Moms, they made me over. It was hard for me, to say the least, 'cause I had my hairstyle for over 17yrs.

BWUAHAHAHAHAHA…Just kiddin’! Or am I??
So my husband caught this armadillo yesterday for my son to check out. He’s caught some before but this was the first time little man got to see one up close! Anyways, I just wanted to share pics with you, for those who have never seen one up close. So, is it a female I guess??? You tell me! Would love to give him/her a name:)

I love my guys. They are the most hard working, polite and kind-hearted bunch I know.
Tyler is 15. He has this unbelievable work ethic and is always doing something. He gets paid mthly ($500) to ride a horse for 30 days. He gets that because he's good at what he does, which is breakin' horses. Of course he wouldn't know nothin' if it wasn't for his daddy, this he knows, and is very proud of. He's not the best student but he tries hard and participates athletically as much as possible. He's got tons of friends and loves to listen to Eminem and Bob Wills. He's the guy to call when you need a flat fixed, a horse broke, or a recliner carried in without help.
Toby is 13. He's not your average 13yr old. He's much more mature and at 185 with size 10 feet, I'm sure most people think he's older. He's the brains of the bunch. *ahem* He gets that from me of course:) He loves the stars, weather and hacks. Did I mention he's also a magician? Well, with cards for now but he loves it. He's also the tender-hearted one, the one that shares and has empathy for others. He's also the "second daddy" around here. He helps a great deal with the toddler and I don't know what I would do without him.
Truett is 2 1/2 and ALL cowboy. He still sleeps with a stuffed horse bigger than him and a football. He's good too. Very athletic just like his oldest brother. He loves to sing and dance and if he gets mad....he might say s#%t.
Noe aka Rooster is 37 and the most wonderful man I've ever known. Has the patience of a turtle and it takes A LOT to get him riled up but when you do, look out 'cause he spits fire. He's a helluva cowhand and a reputation you could put your life on. He's respectful, can sing spanish in away that makes you swoon uncontrollably and puts everyone else first. Oh! He's also a heck of a bit and spur maker...a natural talent.
Lori (me)....33. I'm fiesty to say the least. I'm very upfront and don't take any crap from anyone. I've survived sexual & physical abuse as a child, 4 Miscarriages and watching my dad shoot up heroin at the age of 12. I choose to surround myself with positive energy and embrace the good stuff and spit on the bad stuff. I have no high school diploma or GED and often feel inadequate around people with degrees and such even though I don't show it. Despite my success as a problogger, I still know that I NEED my diploma (or GED). Not for anyone else but for myself. Photography is my passion and even though I have so much to learn, I feel like I could be great at it. Been a ranch cook (off and on) for over 10yrs and have cooked for 10-50 cowboys at one time-breakfast, lunch and supper. Ironic that I have a food blog because frankly, I don't like it much anymore. I don't have a lot of friends but the ones that are, know that I would die for them. I believe in authenticity and keepin' real.
I hate liars and rudeness so if you have either of these traits, then don't befriend me.
