We all appreciate good movies, and it's fun to go to the theater but with all the 3D that's out there it is becoming a bit crazy. What's wrong with the regular 2D film? In the not too distant past seeing a 3D movie was considered a gimmick and didn't really appeal to many people. But that has changed, every movie that is released targeted at the kids it's in the 3D format.
Many theaters will play a standard 2D version of the movie, but once the kids know that it is in 3D, that's the way it had to be seen. But what's more is that the prices for these 3D movies is so outrageously high, it makes it difficult for most families to take the entire family to the movies anymore. What used to be a cheap, fun thing to pass a Saturday afternoon has now become almost as much as a weekend at a theme park.
It is almost worth waiting for the movie to be released on DVD or Blu-ray and then you can watch it anytime that you want and you own it. Nearly everyone has made the step up to a flat panel HDTV, but even if you haven't, you can still get a decent picture and decent sound from a DVD. What you get is the theater experience in your own home, and you get more bangs for your buck.
There is a good chance if you own a HDTV then you have a high def cable service coming in. Should you have that then your cable service can provide fairly new movies on your home screen. This is fine but if you take the time to add a decent surround sound system to it then you have created a great home entertainment experience. This way you can see the movies in a similar way to the theater, unless you just want to see it at the movie house.
You can get your candy and pop your own popcorn and pruchase the DVD or Blu-ray for cheaper than taking a family of four to the movies. And again it gives you the benefit of owning the movie to watch at any time in the future you would like to. There's no being next to strangers or walking on sticky floors. And when the pizza delivery arrives you can pause the movie to go to the door and get everyone a piece, so all is within your control this way.
