So I was checking email and reading some of my favorite blogs using my Toughbook CF-Y7. We've had it downstairs in our kitchen for some time now and it has been great- so convenient and useful!
Anyway, for some reason, I had picked up my bowlful of milk and breakfast cereal and it slipped from my hand, dumping squarely on the keyboard of the laptop. I remembered from the manual (I actually read it prior to this...) that in this situation, the best thing to do is to leave the laptop level. I powered it down, put a towel on the keyboard, lifted it straight up (as the manual says to do) because the Toughbook is designed to drain liquids away from important components. I dried the table beneath the toughbook and opened the DVD drive. It is so well sealed that not a drop of milk got into it! I popped the battery pack out, allowed a little time for it to dry, and started it back up.
I am actually using it right now to send this. It is working perfectly.
The greatest thing about all of this is that this is a Toughbook computer, so I never once was worried that it would be damaged by me spilling my breakfast all over it. I was interested to see how it would hold up, but I never doubted for a minute that it would.
Thanks Panasonic for building products that give us piece of mind. If you haven't gotten a Toughbook yet, you really should look into it!
