JAZZ MAN http://community-4.webtv.net/GoldenPenMan/JAZZMAN/ *cover article from Manhattan Plaza News June 2003

by Maria Ciaccia photos by Teddy Fung JON HAMMOND Jazz Man Jon Hammond's story is one of survival. Survival as a jazz musician, survival as a Manhattanite. The organist-accordionist has survived because of perseverance, love of his art, tremendous humor, and gratitude. His new independently produced and marketed CD, HAMMOND'S BOLERO, which contains only music written by Hammond, is both a statement and a tribute. As his CD notes begin, "This record marks a new beginning for me, and I would like to dedicate it to all those who, like myself, are striking out on their own and going it alone. Don't be afraid to follow your dreams. I did and now this record is for you!" Following

I was this close, people.
I almost convinced the Husband to buy a big TV recently. It was a killer macho awesome windfall kind of a deal. But Mr. Logic says, "No, we'll wait till after we move. Wouldn't want the movers to break it, would ya?"

Fine. Be all sensible. I love that man.....and I know he's right.

But still......

Can you tell I have a bad case of LCD-itis? I am not alone. We were just about THE last family on Earth to get a DVD player. And I'm pretty sure we'll be the ONLY family left without a big flat TV....It's not that I want to keep up with the Joneses. I just want a better, fuller TV experience. We have special needs kiddos so we don't get to go out a lot. Entertaining at home IS the ONLY way we get to see movies....Really...

So what am I doing to make this possible?

oh.my.gosh....

(or as my friend Paige, from PA says, OH MY GARSH....)

I went to Wal-Mart (no judgement) and asked one of the employees what *I* thought was a simple question about LCD TV's and man, did they blow me away with the info. I left more confused that when I arrived.....

I felt very intimidated by the whole process. Buying a TV, or at this point, researching a TV shouldn't make you feeel BAD.....

So I skipped over to the super helpful and completely non-judging videos that they have here at Living HD. That Answer Man rocks...

I know which TV I want now......Now I just need to win the Lottery.

I know I want 1080P, I would really like it to be at least a 40"....

I can wish, can't I?

Maybe I'll be SUPER lucky and get picked to be one of the Living HD Families. If they picked

Hey everybody

I have just joined and would like to say hello.

I was having a nosy at the site and as always I am looking at bigger and better TVs, as I can't afford one at the moment I will need to stick to my 32" until my bank balance is bulging again (that will be ages) and even when it is i am sure my missus will help me out in clearing it out again. I am only kidding about the last bit off cousre, at the moment I am happy with my TV (until my bank balance is bulging) but as I cant get a new one I thought I would join the community and see what it is all about. I have done a Little blogging before but I am know expert. I suppose I will give it a bash and see how things progress.

About 10 days ago we had lightning come through our cable box and fry two of them. It also fried an electronic board in our 50" Panasonic Plasma. So I call the Panasonic Customer Service to request a service person to come and fix our television. When the guy came out he asked me if I'd like a "loner" television while mine was in repair. He told me that Panasonic is the ONLY company that he knows of that does not want their customers to go without a television so they came up with the "loner" program. I didn't know that but I was very impressed and also felt sorry for all those other people who get their tv's taken away for a week or two to have it repaired. Needless to say, we got our HIGH DEF loner television while we wait for ours to be fixed.

I also want to add that the "repair"
