LOL!! Now this is so neat! I confess I haven't been to Florida without what we considered then "modern conveniences", but I have been to a little town in the Smokeys like that. I don't have a postcard but I do remember my Dad making his way to the only store in town once a day to call his office and check in with his secretary, "yesteryear's" version of voicemail.

This is something I can relate to very well. When I was 10 we drove to Florida from Philadelphia in our 1952 Chevrolet with two overnights (trip was in late 50's) There was no Route 95 and had to take Route 1 all the way which took you through many towns and stops along the way. It was July 4th weekend and the roads were crowded. Almost all motels had no vacancies. When we stopped one night it was right on the border of two states, I think NC and SC and half of you was in one state and the other half in the other. I also remember there as a cornfield in the back of the motel and in the middle of the night, a huge bug fell and landed on my sister. Quite the trip and one I have always remembered in detail.

Remember the old Route 66 TV show- they traveled in their corvette along the road and managed to have an episode at every town along the way, LOL!
