It'd be fun to see celebrations of this. My family just celebrates by sleeping late. I don't think anyone wants to see a bunch of bedheads. LOL! Yeah, I know: we really missed the boat.

Only one eventful Memorial Day for me: I went to Rolling Thunder in Washington DC one year with a group of Vietnam vets and law enforcement agents from Atlanta, GA who were an affiliate of a national biker group. I was their club's webmaster and they wanted it covered. Really moving Memorial Day weekend - one of those things that never leaves you.

There is nothing more moving than the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. especially if you're 'of that era'. Last year the 'moving' wall came to our county and I took my mother early in the morning, before the crowds. Its staffed 24/7 by local veteran's groups. My mother's neighbor, who is housebound asked us to look for his cousin's name on the wall. We were able to find it and I took photo's for him and we left small American flags at the foot of the Memorial. Even the small wall was very moving............

you're welcome; my pleasure to serve the united States of America; I've the flag they sent home with my grandfather's body (WWII); his name is engraved at St. James Church, London; I've seen it; also had to honour to wear his sterling silver Lieutenant's and Captain's bars...his grandfather fought yankees, the flag he carried as Colour Sergeant, 14th Mississippi Infantry is in the State Archives & History Museum here in Jackson; his grandfather before him fought the British, was an Ensign (Colour Bearer) at the surrender at Yorktown (1781)...

I love the service- I was a Navy brat and my father is buried at Arlington National Cemetary in Washington, D.C. I miss all the military celebrations and pomp but try to get to Washington every few years. Our service men and women are the greatest!
