AVCHD on PS3

I posted this question to the answer man but apparently he left early on Friday! If anyone can offer help, I'd really appreciate it.

I recently purchased a ZS3. Fantastic camera! How do I get videos from my computer to my PS3 so I can see them on my TV? My PS3 is connected to my TV via router but does not seem to recognize AVCHD video files. Do I need to copy all the video files (there seem to be 4 files created each time you record something) onto a DVD or thumb drive then plug into the PS3?

you may need ot use the software that came with the camera on your PC to convert the files into a format the ps3 will recognize.  The AVCHD format is rather complex.  I so prefer avi. or quicktime files.

I'd suggest u take the vid format off the highest level (menu)  and take vids to see which gives u an easy format to work with.

But for the video you've already got, use the software for the PC to convert it.

Hey Ulesimon, thanks for your reply. I was able to view the AVCHD files by putting them on a flash drive and plugging that into the PS3. The videos look great.

Would you be able to recommend a decent editing software for AVCHD? From what I've read on the web, there is not much available right now and the software that come with the camera only allows you to delete video. I just want to be able to combine clips and add some music.

Thanks for your insight!
