Watching Tour de France in HD

My kids and I have been studying up on the Tour-de-France this year (this is a little summer homeschooling, but they aren't really aware of it) and were really happy to find that we can watch the stages each day in HD.  It's on the Versus channel.  The scenery of the race is a breathtaking backdrop.

We've also enjoyed the Versus website, and our son Caleb signed up for the Tour-de-France challenge.  He rides his bike each day and logs his route using our Toughbook.  They compare his numbers to the actual tour.  It's pretty cool!

Anyway, check out the tour - read up on it a little on the web so you can figure out what's going on (all I knew was that it was in France, it was long, and that Lance Armstrong had won it seven times) - and enjoy it in HD!

Also - just a note - we dropped the HD package from our cable at least temporarily due to my husband being laid off and were pleased to find that we still get bunches of HD channels anyway as part of the basic package - including this one that we're watching the Tour-de-France on.

Thanks for the information and will have to check it out.  Sounds like you are having a great summer following the Tour. I am going to check it out this weekend.

We love Versus at this house. They have a great variety of sports - Waterdog, etc. They air the Super Retriever Series - a game my oldest two labs are just getting experienced enough to be contenders in. While we "play" the retriever games, I love watching the dock dogs do their big air jumps.

I wish more cable carriers offered Versus. That's the only thing I've noticed: it's not always easy to find.

I went to the main website and put in my zip code and my cable provider has it so I added to my favorites.  Watching race now and it is awesome in HD!

Versus has been on our favorites since it was OLN (Outdoor Life Network). they always carry the events I want to see, from hockey games to the dog sports. I love the agility courses - I've got a couple of mutts I'd love to train to do one of those; and the only thing that can keep my black lab from jumping in the water when he has a chance is a strong hand on the leash and a firm "no".  I swear the dogs watch the events on tv with me.

LOL! I got the visual on that lab and water.  I don't generally try to keep mine out unless it's spring and I see waterbirds in a stagnant pond/s. That's a huge bacteria bloom in the works and terrible on a dog's intestines. I haven't resorted to a leash yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

My oldest lab actually barks at me when I pass water and we don't stop. Poor guy ... he's deprived in Texas this time of the year.
