We all know everything is better in HD, especially first rate movies. With the abundance of movies available in Blu-ray, how do you decide what ones to watch? Do you like to crank up the surround sound and watch an action flick? Marvel in the beauty of a documentary about a foreign land? What movie has knocked your socks off and you think every member of the Living in HD community should see?

The first movie I saw in surround sound way back when was Top Gun. I remember being blown away by the sound. I'm beginning to wonder how it will look and sound in HD!

I have to agree Top Gun is a very cool movie to watch on a home theater, I have it on in my collection as well. When you turn down the lights, a big bowl of popcorn and your own favorite chair and a movie night in your home with freinds or family is always great. The Blu-ray is the next step this format is so new I really hope the price of Blu-ray DVD go down in the next year. I have 12 Blu-ray so far and wish Planet Earth on Blu-ray for X-mas I have seen it before and could watch that every week if i could.
5.1 or 6.1 surround sound with a big screen and Blu-Ray it doesn't get any better then this I turn it up with the sound fields that the recivers now come with and are able to really make movie night my own way to watch and hear the movie. Sound is the key the sound track has to be the answer to enjoy the movie to hear all the action and music that the studio wants you to hear i.e (THX)
What ever the set up you have and you enjoy what system you can put together in your own budget either a 3k dollar budget or a 500 hundred dollar one if you have a good time while watching your movie than your already there. Take your time and research everything about it and sit back and enjoy your favorite movie or show.
The opening scene in Gladitor is one of the best to crank it up and enjoy the battle, then again I grew up in the 80's so hands down Stars wars is the best hope this goes to Blu-ray...? If you feel like your riding with them during the speeder bike in the forrest you got it.!!

Just watched Dark Night (only the grown-ups, it's too scary for the kids) on Blu-Ray. Astounding picture! The Joker has never been more creepy! The sound and the pciture quality are crystal clear in every scene. Also, interestingly, the picture size changes in some scenes to fill the entire screen. It is not distracting, but really utilizes the capabilities of the blue-ray disc and the Viera Plasma! Had a friend over who had seen it multiple times in multiple formats (including on IMAX) and he can't wait to see it again on my tv! Living in HD is awesome!!!

My son and his wife were just about to watch the same movie!!! It is not for children. They also have a new Blu-Ray player and was one of my son's gifts for the holidays. My grandson loves Blu-Ray and you must see Cars on it!! It really gives a whole new dimension in watching movies. Also, Netflix, where you can rent movies and now can watch online as part of your subscription is using Blu-Ray, but still can get DVD format. Entertainment is taking a big leap and going to be very exciting. I should rephrase and say already exciting. You must be having a great time with all the new equipment. I love technology and always have to have the latest gadgets.

I'm wondering how a 3D movie will look in HD? The first one I ever remember seeing was 13 Ghosts, I think.

Hmm 3D in HD? I wonder if that would be limited by the 3D technology currently in use? That's something to check out though!

The Panasonic Full HD 3D is a true immersive experience that utilizes proprietary technology to produce a full 1080p entertainment experience. At the 2009 CES , Panasonic demonstrated this technology, using a 103" Plasma HDTV and a Blu-ray player that produced two 1080p images. The demonstration featured 3D segments from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, NFL and NBA footage, as well as a scene from Disney's Bolt. The unanimous reaction from those who experienced the demonstration was one of AWE.

I know it's maybe yesterdays news and people think "yeah, black/white, black/white" but I saw "March of the Penguins" on my son's blueray/HDTV and it was absolutely stunning! I love things that involve natural beauty. Any tips?

Thanks Community Leader! Now I'm psyched to see what it looks like.
Oh, the technophile tastes on an analog budget!
