Anyone own a Lumix?

I used to own an SLR camera, I adored it but it had huge drawbacks in terms of practicality and portability.  Current flight restrictions have reduced the ability to tote all the electronic equipment we now find "essential" in our everyday lives, when travelling by plane.

For many personal and health reasons, I rationalized myself to using a small, semi automatic digital camera but I long for the artistic options of an SLR, again.  I would love to own a Lumix but wondered, how compact and easy are they?

We own the Lumix DMC-FZ18.  It is a versatile camera - great for taking telephoto shots and close ups.  It is very lightweight and easy to use.

All the pictures here were taken with this camera as were all the pictures from our trip to the Olympics - which you can see here

I used to think our Canon S2 made great photos, but I am much more impressed with the shots from this camera from Panasonic.

I've been looking at SLRs lately.  My best friend has an old Nikon and is wanting more.  I've narrowed it down between a Nikon and waiting for the DMC-GH1K

I'm not lucky enough to have one "yet" but my day will come!

I have a digital SLR that's a couple of years old. I LOVE having the flexibility of changing out lense and the ease of transfer and quality of digitals.

This Lumix will be my dream come true.

When did you purchase that FZ-18?  Those are some wonderful pictures!

I recently got my hands on a Lumix DMC-G1, and so far it's pretty amazing.  The only part I was saddened by was that it doesn't record video (like the GH1).

Away from that, it's been pretty sweet.  Really fast and responsive (which all Lumix cameras seem to share).  I am just beginning to learn about all the settings of the DSLR world, and need to get another lens for it soon.  But I've been rather impressed by the reviews about both the G1 and GH1.

And it's rather small!!!

We have the Lumix DMC-FX37 & the DMC-TZ50. I carry the DMC-TZ50 EVERYWHERE I go. I just keep it in my purse. It's larger than the other one but I found my personal preference was the DMC-TZ50. My husband uses the smaller one more often (since he doesn't carry around a purse, LOL). We have taken great pictures with both. Personally, I also REALLY want an SLR camera but have never owned one yet. I know I will be restricted on carry it certain places but I would still love to have one for those special occassions.

We have never owned an SLR but it is definitely on our wish list!  Some of the pictures are just breathtaking. We do have 2 of Panasonic's point and shoot cameras and both are superb.  The fx37 and tz50 both take wonderful pictures, have extra options and are easy to use. Definitely better than our previous digital cameras.  The tz50 also has wifi capability and makes videos.  The cordless battery charger is also a nice feature.

Plugging SD cards directly into laptop, desktop or television is  such a wonderful capability.  Definitely saves time and increases enjoyment of the products

Needless to say we are definitely  impressed with Panasonic products!

We didn't purchase it, we WON it when we became an LiHD family!  We've had it over a year now, and it's everyone's favorite camera.  We won a smaller Lumix that takes good photos, too, but it doesn't have nearly the zoom of the FZ-18.
