Can someone tell me the best settings for action shots? Everything I'm doing is turning out wrong and theyare all blurry.  And advice would be greatly appreciated. I have the GH1

I'd try turning the dial to the little guy running (Sports mode) and go from there.  You can also try Shutter Priority and set the shutter speed.  For fast stuff - like getting bucked off a bronco - try a shutter speed of at least 1/300 or more.  It depends on the light how fast you can go.

Also check your Image Stabilization.  I like it at "2" unless I'm panning and then I like "3"

Hope this helps!

I think that will help. I've never really used the "premade" dial settings so this is all a learning curve to me. Maybe I'll have the kids run real fast to see if I can get them. LOL

Thanks!

I don't have a G1 (wish I did!) but I do have the same blur problem with fast movings pics. I thought maybe my camera was just too slow, but if you're getting blurry with the G1 that can be fixed by settings, maybe I still have hope. Although I think I've used the sports mode befor and it didn't make much of a diff.

The problem with action shots indoor is there isn't enough light so the camera has to go to a slow shutter speed and you get the blurry shot.  Going to "Forced Flash" (remember to turn of burst shooting) will help.

The reason I suggest Forced Flash is that if it's in auto flash, the camera may think there is enough light and it doesn't need flash.  That happens to me a lot and I end up with blurry shots!
