Just got Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring on Blu-Ray from Netflix. WOW!!! This is what Blu-Ray and HDTVs were made for. The sound is incredible on my Panasonic Sound system (You can hear EVERYTHING!!!- the subtlety of the music, the clashing of swords!) and the picture quality on my Panasonic HDTV is outstanding. As I watched in the dark, I was completely transported and so excited to have a movie theater in my home! Thanks Panasonic!

The only thing keeping me from owning this movie is waiting for it to come out in the extended edition!

Will definitely have to get that one.  Lord of the Rings is an all time favorite of mine.  Now if they would only make the Hobbit with all the new technology.

Oh, I have no doubt that this trilogy looks and sounds amazing on Blu Ray. Since it doesn't look like the extended versions on Blu Ray will be released until 2011 or even 2012, I'll probably rent the theatrical versions until that time. Even though I'm sure the regular extended DVDs will look and sound quite splendid on my Panasonic Plasma and my *cough*other*cough* surround sound system. My PS3 upscales regular DVDs to 1080p quite well :)

Other than the original Star Wars trilogy in BluRay, or even 3D (which I am sure Mr. Lucas is putting together with new digital special effects), this is at the top of my list of movies to buy on BluRay.
