So, I know this will come down to a hash out of location, preference, and cost... but looking at those collectively, how would you rate your provider of HD content. I currently have TWC, which I was timing to jump ship for FIOS once it arrived, but they recently upped their HD channels to near 100 (non-premium) and now I'm less hesitant to move? But now that FIOS is now available in my building/as is DirectTV, I have to ask... Should I switch? So here're 3 questions for you to respond to. (use the #s in your reply for easy thread readability) 1. What provider & services do you have? 2. What makes you smile about it (up to 3)? 3. What makes you frown about it (up to 3)? 4. What would make you jump ship to another provider? Thanks for the input guys, -E

1. TWC - Internet & Digital Cable (no-premium channels) 2. Near 100 channels, Steady service 3. Poor HD On Demand Selection, needs better Guide User Interface 4. More HD channels and HD On Demand, Faster Internet - For a similar price. (~$100)

Currently we use Charter for digital tv, internet, and phone. Because we're in a rural area, many of the features that they offer are not available in my neighborhood. We needed to have high speed internet because of work, and we couldn't even get a DSL line installed. I feel as if we're kind of boxed in. Maybe in the next decade, we'll have better options!
We're in the same situation. We only have one choice for high speed internet and digital TV.

1. What provider & services do you have? ATT Uverse ... with cable and internet.
2. What makes you smile about it (up to 3)? Love the variety of HD channels and program line up. Love the outrageous speed of the internet connection.
Love the reliability. 3. What makes you frown about it (up to 3)? Don't like that the "popular" directory services don't offer the ATT channel line up, like TVGuide.
4. What would make you jump ship to another provider? Nope, I jumped ship from another provider, Charter Communications, and no "special" they could offer would ever bring me back. I'm staying put! Great questions!! Hope some others find some help in the answers when making their HD choices.

[/quote] 1. I have Comcast Cable for cable/internet provider. I am adding HD to service in the next few weeks. 2. Fast speed, reliability and large selection of programming including on demand which is a nice feature. 3. As far as service and reliability they are great, but the one annoying fact they raise the rate every year, albeit an almost unnoticeable amount (usually $2.00 or less), but it does add up year after year. By raising in small increments, my service is almost an additional $10.00 a month. 4. It would depend on the internet service. Before I moved to Charleston, SC, FIOS was becoming available in Philadelphia and if FIOS become available here, I might consider, but would also have to compare costs. As to your situation, as far as what service, the biggest factor at least for me, which do you use more; cable or internet, or about equal. If you are using internet more, I would definitely get FIOS. More and more entertainment is moving online, so FIOS would be a good choice. Weather also can, and does affect satellite communications so if thinking about DirecTV keep that in mind.

I actually do not watch all that much TV myself (these days) so I couldn't answer all of these questions for you unfortunately but I have Verizon Fios and it is by far the best service I have personally seen. We do get some HD channels on our flatscreen and it looks amazing. I really can't as anything bad about Verizon except that it definitely is up there with the higher priced services (but worth it!)

So here're 3 questions for you to respond to. (use the #s in your reply for easy thread readability) 1. What provider & services do you have? Comcast which has been a disappointment here in this southern area. 2. What makes you smile about it (up to 3)? Not too much smiling goes on here, cable is often down without warning and TV is glitchy, but it is the only game in town. 3. What makes you frown about it (up to 3)? Never knowing if I am going to be online for a significant time and/or losing TV in the middle of a good movie. 4. What would make you jump ship to another provider? A New York minute! I am just waiting for Verizon Fios or something better...anything better! Thanks for the input guys, Thank you for the good questions. Alee

1 - We have DirectTV and love it. 2 - Big XM radio fans and get this on top of over 130 channels. The customer service is excellent. 3 - Bad weather has taken a toll only a couple of times. Very rare though. 4 - I don't think we'd jump ship. We're very happy with it and their customer service is stellar. Hard to find groups that take care of you in these days and times. Super question and some interesting responses.

1. What provider & services do you have? TWC - HD DVR w/ HBO on Demand 2. What makes you smile about it (up to 3)? The signal is consistent and i never have trouble accessing on demand, thought i've heard i'm lucky as many new yorkers can't get through a half hour show without freezing and on demand is very hit or miss. 3. What makes you frown about it (up to 3)? That i'm 'lucky' to not have those problems. The HD channels are meh, and on demand isn't anything to write home about. 4. What would make you jump ship to another provider? if they offered another provider in my building i would. TWC is the only option right now for me.

Those who have satellite TV- do those companies also charge more for the HD channels?
