I've had the TC-P50G10 for a couple of months now, and I love it. The 1080p quality is really excellent. I used an external wireless adapter to hook it up to the Internet (I still owe this community a How To), but it can definitely be hardwired as well. VieraCast has received several updates since it was first released and it's a nice little tool, lot of potential, too. I recently acquired a PS3 and using HDMI to connect it to this TV is a wonderful thing.

What are the major differences between the G10 series and the S1 Series Plasma TVs? Why shoud I purchase the G10 vs the S1?

As far as I'm aware, the S1 series don't have SD Card playback, VieraCast, and THX mode. Whether or not that's worth the difference in price is up to the consumer, of course. Picture-wise, these models appear to be identical.

I admit, I don't use SD Card playback myself, I have many different ways in which I can watch photos on my TV (Verizon Fios Media Manager is a nifty little app), and I don't use VieraCast on a daily basis, and as far as THX mode is concerned, it's really a matter of taste, most people seem to think it's useless. I'm pretty pleased with it myself, but I can darken my room completely.

With young children and lots of pictures/video being shot for various occasions, I love the SD card slot. It is immediate gratification for the kids who want to see the event that just happened. It has been great not to have to hook anything to the tv in order to playback what we have shot. Also, our TV, the Panasonic TH-50PZ850, has VieraCast. We use it to go on Youtube (much better than crowding around the laptop), see our uploaded pics on Picasa Web albums, and we can even get Video On Demand through Amazon. We use the VieraCast much more than we ever thought we would! So (if it makes a difference when choosing a television), keep in mind how your family would use it and what equipment you have that will be working with it.

I think that's one of the best features of the new tv's. We don't have young children at home, unless you count the furries. I love to take pictures, and seeing them on an HD, big screen is heaven.

Love the sd slot.  Being able to view the pictures instantaneously is a wonderful feature.   With family and friends we are able to view events on the spot which is such a crowd pleaser.  We also have Viera and use it more than we ever thought we would.  Youtube has so many how to videos that we love to view on the larger screen.  At our age viewing on a larger screen is so much easier on the eyes.  Amazon video on demand is instant gratification as well. These Panasonic HD TVs have so many wonderful features.  The sound quality definitely enhances the viewing pleasure.  The wii has never looked so good.  Watching movies now is like having a movie theater in your living room.  We use our tv more than ever before.

The HDC-SD100 has both, Sancho. I love the look of the 24fps.

Oh oh ... I forgot to mention: before you take "the plunge", make sure the video editing software you use will work with the 24. I had a little conflict there and ended up having to buy new editing software. Oh joy!

I, too, love to display photos on my TV as well as on my computer display monitor, especially when I hve a party. Folks like wandering around and seeing the photos fromj other times/parties.  Such great ideas here.
