Here are a few movies I think would look stunning and leave a lasting impression (in no particular order):

  1. The Fall
  2. Casino Royale
  3. Ratatouille
  4. Iron Man
  5. Braveheart
  6. The Gladiator
  7. Any of the Matrix Movies
  8. Star Wars series
  9. Planet Earth
  10. The Dark Knight
  11. Empire of the Sun
  12. Sunshine

You may also want to visit the following web page http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/reviews.php for additional consumer reviews.

I hope this is helpful.

Hey, my parents are on the verge of getting one and hopefully with my encouragement they finally will. I saw a few movies in Blue-ray and I absolutely loved them. They were extremely clear and really enhance the feel of the movie. You become completely immersed in the film that you forget all about your actual enviornment.

Everything looks better on blu-ray.  Even regular dvds.

Some really good ones:

Transformers-visuals are awesome!

Planet Earth

Casa Blanca

Gladiator

Black Hawk Down

Godfather

Pirates of the Caribbean

And any of the animated like Wall-E, Sleeping Beauty, Horton Hears a Who and Ratatouille

Depending on your personal taste you can't go wrong with any of them.  The technology is awesome!  Once you have blu-ray everything else looks blah!

I'm actually buying Transformers 2 today.  I can't wait to see it.  My cousin has it and he said it looks great.

Melissa,

watching movies on Blu-Ray totally changes your viewing style.  I can't imagine watching a regular DVD anymore.  The graphics are 100x times better.. you should try it

I'm not sure I agree with some of the comments here.  I just got a DMP-BD60 player, and I have been disappointed with the image quality.  I think it varies enormously from movie to movie.  I picked up The Aviator, and while there are some scenes that are stunning, others are just so so.  I also got The Perfect Storm, and the images look old and washed out.  It seems to me that the image quality is totally dependent on the transfer process.  I would think that any movie created for theatrical release would have a good picture to start with, and would only be enhanced by the Bluray resolution.  In reality, it seems that the Bluray reveals flaws that are not visible with DVDs.

Well the Perfect Storm is not known for being a good transfer. It has a few flaws. I am not too familiar with the BD60 player, but there is always the possibility that something may be wrong with the video processor. What connection do you have running from your player to your tv/receiver?  What TV do you have? If you have a receiver, which one do you have?
