I have a question. We don't have a Blu-ray player. At some point we'd like to get one. Someone told me that when we do it should be upgradable. Would someone be able to tell me exactly what does that mean, if anything? thanks.

They are talking about a unit that has capabilities to connect to the internet so that it can upgrade its firmware updates. The PS3 as a Blu-Ray player has wireless internet built into it and updates automatically.

However, we like to stick to Panasonic brand suggestions on this site naturally :) I'd suggest the Panasonic DMP-BD60. It's reasonably priced and also has the capabilities you're looking for. :)

I didn't realize they needed to be updated that often that they'd need a capability like that built in (or not). When the time comes we'll be going stand alone, thanks for the suggestion Kate.

I can't comment on other Blu-Ray players but our Panasonic DMP-BD80 rocks! IMHO you can't beat Panasonic products. Tim

I have the BT300 Blu Ray home theater and I love it. The quality is great and with the right set-up you can connect to the internet and take advantage of BD Live

I only said the PS3 because it forces updates (or else you lose all the online capability). I use the Panasonic DMP-BD80K to play movies because it handles 7.1 audio and it runs it lossless. Definitely worth the extra $50 without a doubt.

Thanks everyone! I'm hopeful that after the holidays prices will lower a bit and we can finally get one.
