The HDC-TM300 is my first and appears to be one of the best HD video cameras out there.  I’ve had it less than a month and have tested much of it ability.  Great quality and seems to be easy if you stay with the iA mode.  Amazing how it adjusts settings for you as light changes.  I have shot indoors with low light and out doors with bright snow light and it does great.  The zoom feature works so well that I have a hard time staying off it.  The best surprise was the 5.1 surround sound which works magic.  Sound has a zoom too.

My only hurdle seems to be editing software.  The HDWriter that comes with it is limited and is pretty slow on my computer.   I’m looking at getting a package from Corel: Video Studio Pro X2 bundled with Paint Shop Pro Photo ultimate.

Anyone know much about this Corel program and what kind of transition I might experience given my camera and files created on HDWriter?

Hmm.. i don't know much about Corel but I do know many people on this site use Roxio.  Have you ever tried that?  We also have some videos on how to best use Roxio.  Check out http://www.livinginhd.com/roxio

Appreciate your comments.  I have now become pretty kneen on using Corel Video and Photo.  It can do a lot.  I have had some problems getting clean finished products and have even resorted to using the HDwriter that came with my panasonic to produce something for our Theather.  I may have too slow of a computer or literally just don't have all the ins and outs figured out yet.  With time and maybe maybe the demands of a new project I'll get it.  Corel's tech support is available.   Unforturnately they are so big that I don't think they are much help.  It's like trying to get an answer out of Microsoft.  Maybe I should have gotten Roxie but I still believe the Corel Bundle offered what I wanted.

Have to get back to making movies.  Then make some head way.

Dave,

One thing I've learned is how powerful your computer needs to be to edit HD movies.  Essentially you need a quad core processor and a ton of memory.  I have a 7 minite long HD video on Vimeo and it took 10 hours to finish - because my computer is too slow.

Another thing I've learned is that the manuals and help menues are no substitute to tinkering and experimenting.

hope this helps,

Tim

I agree with you but I have a real fast single core 2.81 GHzt and I seem to be able to edit although not to my satisfaction.  I've burned some movies in HD and it took the longest to do that than to edit and save file.  Have to get back to it see what my limits are but not going to buy a new speed machine yet although looking at them with the I7 processor.  Thanks for your in put.
