Hey everyone, I know I'm the Community Manager on here but I'm still no pro when it comes to electronics - ha! With that said, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if they have, if they know what can be done about it?
Oftentimes, if I'm watching a movie I've put in my Blu-Ray player... I notice that when I up the home theater sound loud enough so I can actually HEAR the actors speak during their conversations, the action scenes all of a sudden are SO loud it's scary! I then have to feverishly grab the remote to turn it down only to barely be able to hear what they're saying in the scene after. So I'm sitting there pressing volume up, volume down the entire time. Not a very enjoyable movie experience. Anyone?

All the time - and it pisses me off! In the instructions for our home theater I found how to adjust it. It's called DRCOMP as I recall. Setting it to MAX brings down the loudest sounds and helps a bit. Not enough though. I think there is a way to do it with the Blu-Ray player too but I haven't looked into that yet - but I will tonight! Tim

You too? Hmm I may have to look for that setting. Is it on the TV settings or Receivers settings do you remember?

Thanks Tim. I'm grabbing the remote to change that setting right now. It is very irritating!

It's on the remote for the home theater. I found it mentioned deep inside the manual. Our home theater is a SA-BX500 and on page 35 of the manual it talks about DRCOMP. You hit the sound button on the remote and scroll to DRCOMP. It helps but the big booming explosions will still wake people! Our Blu-Ray player (DMP-BD80) has a feature that allows one to "remaster and reproduce more natural sounds". I'm not sure what that means or how to do it! I don't think it will take the edge off the booms! tim

I don't have a home theater system yet (you know I'm still holding out, but it doesn't look like that'll happen), but I do know that dialogue generally gets sent to the front center speaker in a 5.1 setup. So, if there is a way to boost the output to the front center speaker, I would assume that that would help balance things out a bit.
