Blu-ray Discs Freezing

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems watching specific blu-ray discs on your Panasonic players? The last 2 discs I've tried to watch have had problems, so I'm trying to determine if I have an issue with my player or if I'm having bad luck with discs. I updated to the latest firmware after experiencing the firsts problem listed below, but it did not help.

Death Race

Tried 2 different copies from Netflix. Both discs where in excellent shape with no scratches or smudges. The movie would play for a few minutes and then the picture would pixelate and get blocky followed by freezing. The player would stall there for a minute or two and then dump me out of the move to the chapter of the disc that normally loads after the movie ends. Both discs did the same thing but in different places.

I googled a bit and did see some people saying that it was rumored that Universal had a bad print run of discs that had problems. I'm not sure if both of these fall into that bucket.

Gamer

The next movie I got was "Gamer." I took me about 3 hours to get through this one. The disc played fine for the first 45 minutes and then froze. The screen went blank right after freezing. The remote wouldn't let me move between chapters. I stopped the disc and pressed play. Then the menu graphics cam up, but no menu options were present to select to start the movie. I popped the disc, cleaned it and managed to get back to the chapter where it froze. The movie continued to play until about 10 minutes before the end. Same freezing symptoms - blank screen. After that I couldn't even get the disc to load to the menu. I then powered the player off and on which finally allowed the disc to load. I then managed to get back to the proper chapter and finish the movie.

Coincidentally, this movie is directed by the same guys who did Crank 2 - a disc that has known issues that are documented on the Panasonic site. Perhaps the company that makes their discs has issues..?

So, I still don't know if I have a disc or player issue. Anyone else have specific issues going on..?

Thanks,

Jeff

I had a similar problem Jeff - check out this thread

After I went through all that, the Panasonic tech people told me to unplug it for 10 minutes.

I had an issue crop up again.  I turned off then unplugged the Blu-Ray player, pluged it in turned it on and all was well.

Hope this helps!

Jeff,

Were you able to fix the problem with your blu-ray?

I had the problem crop up again the other night night.  I turned off the player, unplugged it, plugged it back in and started the movie.  I think it seems to be happening with the newer releases.

Tim,

Thank you.  I will forward this to the call center so they are aware of the issue.

Thanks,
