We live in a small house and my husband's hearing is declining. I'd like to install headphones but can't anything in the manual to show where to plug them in. I'm willing to try wireless but am not familiar with their specs and how to buy a pair that are compatible with this TV. Any suggestions?

Ann, I'd think that Radio Shack would have an adapter to allow headphones to be plugged into the red and white audio outs on the back of the TV. I can't find one on their website however. Hope this helps. Tim

Thanks Tim. That sounds like a simple, inexpensive solution. I'll head to RS today.

I think the only complication is if you have a home theater/speakers hooked up to the TV. Also, if you do the headphones, only he'll hear the TV - which my wife prefers by the way!

Well the whole purpose was to let my husband watch TV so that I couldn't hear it in the bedroom. I bought an audio Y-cable with a 1/8" stero male to dual RAC (Phono) male and added a remale to remale coupler but it didn't work. I'm going to take it back to RS and call Panasonic on Monday.

Ann, I will forward your message to the Panasonic Call Center to find out if there is a headphone for your 42" TV. Thanks, Yessica

Please see below the answer from the call center - You can connect an optical cable from the television to a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC), then connect analog (RCA) audio cables from the DAC to the analog into of the other device (headphones). Also, you will need to ensure that the DAC has the ability to decode Dolby Digital audio.
I hope this helps.
Thanks, Yessica

Thanks Yessica. Unfortunately, I'm not that advanced. But I have resolved my problem and now just have to train my husband to use the headphones. Talk about technically challenged.
