3D TV Movies?

Has anyone heard of any movies currently availiable for the new 3D TV's?  We have ours coming soon and I was hoping to have a few movies to use with it.  I just found out that Avatar's 3D version will not be out until 2011, and many movies that are advertised as "3-D" are actually to be used with the blue/red glasses on any TV.

Let me know if any of you know of any of these movies.

Hi there, congrats on the 3D suite! We just had ours installed yesterday :) You're going to love it, I guarantee it!

Right now, there are only 3 movies available in BluRay 3D, 2 from Panasonic (Coraline, and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs), and one from Samsung (Monsters vs. Aliens). None of these are available anywhere else right now as far as I can tell, they're included in the 3D products that both companies have available. We watched a few minutes of Coraline and Ice Age, they look very cool, definitely a great way to enjoy 3D.

I don't think we'll see any major blockbusters in 3D this year. The only one I can think of is "Up" by Disney/Pixar that's scheduled to be released this year, and then Avatar in 2010, like you mentioned.

I'm curious to see what kind of 3D content DirecTV will be broadcasting starting this Friday. I know there'll be some sporting events, but I'm not much into sports other than the World Cup this year, so hopefully some documentaries or something like that.

So glad to hear that you are enjoying yours already.  Did Greg bring those movies with him for your install, or did you go get them ahead of time?

I am not much of a baseball fan, but it will be fun to see what it looks like in 3D.

I am with you, jazzed about seeing this technology in action!

I've heard that the Discovery channel will be showing some 3D documentaries (There aren't many of them) and that Direct TV will also be broadcasting 3D movies on a dedicated channel. There are a lot to choose from once they get rolling. It is my guess that there will be lots more to choose from once more people adopt the technology (and they will). I'm not a huge sports fan, but I would watch a lot more in 3D. Seeing sporting events with true depth is amazing- it's as great a difference as the change from Standard Def to High Def. You'll want to watch them just because they look so darn amazing in 3D!

I am a big sports fan, but not really baseball.  I am with you though, I think watching it in 3D could make it worth watching, at least until the "cool" factor of 3D wears off a bit.  It will be interesting to see if 3D takes a permanent role (hope so) or if it ends up as a fad.  The fact that you have to wear $150 glasses to view it won't help the technology, but if it genuinely enhances the viewing experience significantly, it will hold.  My guess is that at best 2D HD will continue to be around and not be replaced by 3D, but that parallel 3D channels will increase......fun to think about.

in the future. that was Monday... so I am patiently waiting :P
