Hey LiHD Members, we need your feedback.  We want to know what you think about "VieraCast" also known as our IPTV's.

Thanks,

We're definitely enjoying VieraCast, especially since they're offering Netflix on the VT25 TVs and the BDT300/350 BluRay players. We've been watching episodes of The Office, Farscape, Dead Like Me, and Avatar (Last Airbender) many times.

We've also used the Skype featue on our TV using VIeraCast to chat with my relatives in Holland, and it's great to be able to do that from the comfort of your living room.

We don't really use the other features too often, even though Pandora is great for people who want to create custom playlists, and YouTube is great to show your favorite viral videos to your friends on a large screen TV Smile

I really like the VieraCast and recommend it. I am hoping more and more things become available. I saw that Netflix is available but our TV is too old to support it, from what I understand. But we do use it for Amazon movies, YouTube and Pandora. We use our Wii for Netflix so it's not a huge deal but it would be nice.

It would be great if Panasonic would create a 3D demo channel, where consumers could watch 3D pictures or small video clips made specifically to show the amazing 3D capabilities of the TV. Or maybe some kind of collaboration with Flickr or Picasa specifically for 3D content.

VieraCast is nice.  We enjoy watching You Tube with family and friends.  We are experimenting with Pandora and like the addition of Twitter.

I have really enjoyed VieraCast since become a LiHD family.  My two favorite additions have been Amazon VoD and Pandora.

Two questions:

  1. When / what type of content is coming next (Hulu perhaps)?
  2. Has anyone noticed delays when loading the initial VieraCast screen?

thanks...........Bruce

Yes there is a slight delay in the home screen popping up.

I noticed that when I try to get VieraCast when I first turn on my TV, it will fail because the wireless connection hasn't been established yet, waiting 10 seconds fixes that. If you have the TV hardwired or maybe using a USB wireless dongle (I'm using an ethernet wireless adapter), the delay may be trying to create that network connection.

Vudu (HD movies on demand) is now available on the BDT BluRay players, and should shortly appear on the Viera TVs as well. We love Netflix, that's definitely our most-used VieraCast app. Skype is pretty nifty, too.

Would be great to see Hulu, but I think there may be some copyright and legal issues. I did hear recently, however, that there will be a lot of cool new stuff coming to VieraCast in the new year (probably after CES).

Interesting, NetFlix is NOT one of my VieraCast applications on my TH-50PZ850U plasma TV, nor my DMP-BD80 Blu-ray player.  Did some looking around on the Panasonic site and found the following (in small print):

Netflix can be enjoyed on 2010 Viera models with Viera Cast, but not earlier models.

bummer.........Bruce
