Updated my VieraCast the other day and ended up with Pandora on my Panasonic TV! What a great addition to the VieraCast features. The more features are added, the more my Home Theater becomes a full-fledged home entertainment unit. Pandora, where have you been all my life? Thanks Panasonic! Which VieraCast features do you like/use? What about BD-Live? Has anyone found any cool extras on their BD-Live features?

The addition of Pandora is nice. Wish that netflix was available but unfortunately not on our models. Roku HD box is available for netflix streaming for about $99. Tageschau the German news is nice. Would love to see a Ukrainian news station for our son-in-law so he could keep in touch on the big screen. Even Panasonic batteries are wonderful. We just now replaced them in the remote that we got with our HDTV in 2008. We are so impressed with the VieraCast options. Love the fact that it shows more options to come like Fox Sports and other unknowns.

Pandora is very cool, even though I rarely use it, I have a rather extensive music library :) I love that Netflix is now available through our Panasonic BluRay player, we use that at least once a week. And Skype through the VT25, and YouTube... the other features we don't use that much, we can get weather and stock quotes through so many other media :) I'm not fond of BD-Live, it is very slow, first of all, and how many HD previews can you download? I'd rather just watch them on YouTube or Vimeo or what have you. I think there's a lot more you could do with BD-Live but I haven't seen it used to its fullest capabilities yet. Usually, when I watch a movie, I don't need to see trivia, or have to 'jump sideways' to a different clip. I found this link with some of the better BD-Live content with BluRay movies, I'll try and rent a couple of them to see if I can be converted: http://www.whatisbdlive.com/best-bd-live-movies.html

Tom, where is your VieraCast content coming from? The BluRay player or the tv itself?

The feature I'm really looking for is related to streaming music locally, from my computer, or from an external hard drive. It seems like lots of blu ray players these days will play MP3 through either a USB connection or a wired/wireless hookup. But, I've got my entire CD collection ripped to lossless FLAC. At present, I have a media player to listen to it, but I'd really prefer being able to route everything through a blu ray player with an HDMI connection to my receiver.

Tom, you'll need an optical cable back to your AVR in order to hear VieraCast sound over your home theater system and then switch your AV Receiver to the appropriate input. However, currently only stereo sound is broadcast over VieraCast, no 5.1 surround at all, so other than volume, you won't get any benefits from outputting the sound through your home theater system, unless you want to mess around with artificial surround such as Dolby Pro Logic II or DTS Neo:6.

John, some of the more recent Panasonic BluRay players, like the BDT350 (which may have been discontinued) have DLNA compatibility, which, for now, only streams pictures and music from a DLNA server type device such as a Windows Home Media server. No music is streamed at this point, but I feel we're pretty close.
