Bio
John Bentham is an award-winning photographer specializing in documentary, location and portraiture. His clients and publications include AUDI, Ericsson, Forbes, Mercedes-Benz, Newsweek, The New York Times, People Magazine, Pfizer, Rolling Stone, Sony, Time, United Technologies and Vanity Fair.
John has photographed such public figures as Harrison Ford, Philip Glass, SEAL, David Bowie, Uma Thurman, Mark Morris, Jessica Simpson, Jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves, folk music legend James Taylor, the late Frank McCourt and the immortal Evel Knievel.
John Bentham was named “A photographer to watch” by Kodak and he has garnered accolades from Nikon, Photo District News, The New York Times and The Maine Media Workshops. He has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, Tokyo and Prague, and his photographs are represented in several private and institutional collections.
John is interested in sub-cultures and his work reflects this fascination. He has photographed Biker rallies, Burlesque dancers, Native American Powwows and underground NYC clubs. Johns first monograph was published in 2007. His 2nd book Bike Week, is expected soon.
In his spare time John teaches photography for The Digital Photo Academy, sponsored by Panasonic Lumix, and also teaches photography at Lehman College in The Bronx.
