Spring has arrived on the calendar, but like everyone in New England I am waiting for signs of spring. Nothing is blooming as our spring flowers are just poking out of the ground. And now the weather forecast is suggesting snow on Friday. It almost has me in tears. The tips of trees are swollen and the sugar mapling buckets are attached to trees. One day soon it will happen. The marshes wake up and the sound of peepers will fill the air. One day soon......

Well it's now December! It was a wonderful day on that Sunday in November 3 weeks ago when we brought Sadie home. She never stops moving until that last moment when her eyes start blinking lights out! She is to young to socialize with other pups yet so I never made it to the beach. Our family room has become a baby nursery and big playpen. I'm not sure where we will put our Christmas tree yet.

Stayed inside today out of the cool air....it's only in the 40's but I haven't gotten use to having cold hands outside. There are plenty of chores to finish- raking, putting my garden away, putting up driveway stakes in advance of snow.....And so I had lots of time to think about where to take some photos next. I think I will go to the beach that is now open to horseback riders and dog walkers. Maybe tomorrow....

Today I went out to capture a few local scenes. I found Mallard ducks that were tame in a small pond along with lots of migratory Canadian geese. I came across a farmer cutting the last cut of hay for this year. I happened upon a solitary oak tree, a foundation of a ruined textile mill, and a horse tied in the barn. Nothing fancy, but I went out looking to take pictures in the middle of the day. Fall folliage is past peak now.
