Self Portrait without a double chin!

Whenever me and my husband go away alone I always have to ask strangers to take a photo of us - so embarrassing! When I try to take one myself I always have a double chin which is less that preferable.  I just found this product called the Quick Pod Arm Extending Self Portrait Device on Amazon. I place the camera in the Quickshot, set the timer and presto a self portrait minus the double chin! I thought this was such a cool invention I had to share it.

Hi Roxy - Great tip - I could use a Quickshot too. :-) My girlfriend taught me a low tech trick that you might try when/if you don't have the extender handy.

Hold your arm so that the camera takes the photo at a slight downward angle - meaning you are shooting yourself from above, but not so far above that it's obvious in the photo (just a little bit - sorry if I'm not communicating this clearly - it's really simple, I swear.)

The photo will look normal but you won't have a double chin.

Here's an example from my Flickr photostream:

    great new gadgets and ideas!

We have certainly come a long way from 'perching' our cameras on posts, setting a timer and running like mad to our place in the group.
