If you get your TV signal from satellite or cable, invest in a small indoor digital antenna so you can get a signal when the satellite or cable service is out. This is especially true in areas with frequent storms or bad weather.

Use a surge suppressor with your system and plug all of the interconnected components into it. If your TV is mounted on a wall and has a separate power plug, make sure that the outlet has a surge suppressor built in.

Two things to consider when mounting your TV on the wall: 1) Mounting it above a working fireplace is not a good idea. The heat and soot from the fireplace will eventually destroy the set. 2) Be sure to mount it so that when you're seated it's a comfortable height and you don't have to look up or down to watch the set. |
